It seemed like a good idea 18 months ago.

I cannot believe that the time comes around so quickly, and one of the reasons that I have not been blogging for a while is that I had under estimated the time I would need for training to stand a chance to get to the base of the highest place on earth which is 8850m. It has been a lifetime ambition to go to Everest Base Camp and a chance conversation with one of my daughters teachers who had done put me in touch with a good company and it was not as expensive as I thought it would be.

I had however completely underestimated the cost of acquiring the right kit to take with me as merino base layers, fleeces, trousers and good boots are some of the essentials, luckily most of the kit is usable walking on the cornish coast.I am in debited to Snow and Rock in Covent Garden and Cotswolds in London and Truro for their brilliant advice and help. The date of my flight to Katmandhu is Sunday 15th April so only just over a week left to go. I will be winding down my intense and last minute training regime with my excellent trainer Olly from Foundation for Fitness. Luckily he only live down the road and 3 times a week he has been pushing me through the most horrendous types of squats you can imagine in order to get my leg strength  up to climbing long and strenuous ascents while wearing my heavy back pack. In between sessions I have been on maximum incline and fast walking on running machine wearing dreaded pack!

Long walks whenever possible including the killer coast from Morewenstow to Welcoombe and back know as the mini Himalayas. Coastal walks from Treyarnon to Newquay and Treyarnon to Padstow have been more routine and it is lovely to have these coastal walks on my doorstep. Finally as well as Easter rush and printing etc for shop I have also just finished 3 large canvases that I have been commissioned to do, Still need to get a few more last minute things from Cotswolds in Truro and am very definitely looking forward to taking Easter Day off and joining in with the Easter Egg hunt which Dom from Explore The Shore is organising on the beach!
